When we tell people that we have a large herd of aoudad running around the ranch the most common response is, “What’s that?” The technical definition is that an aoudad is a slang name that the local indigenous people of North Africa use for the African Barbary Sheep that runs wild in the Sahara Desert. They are actually pretty rare in their native North Africa but were introduced in the US many years ago and have done quite well. They are usually 30 to 40 inches tall at the shoulders and can weigh as much as 300 pounds. They have a reddish color to them and all of them have the characteristic curved back horns.

At 7-R we are lucky enough to have a great herd that free ranges around the ranch and have been here for decades. They are elusive and typically freeze in their tracks when they feel the presence of danger so many times they are right around you and you don’t even realize it! I went out a few days ago with a mind to find and photograph some of them to share with you on this website. I was lucky enough to be able to locate and photograph some of them for you to enjoy. All of these shots were taken from the ridge just below some of our newest view properties in the Canyon Ridge area of 7-R. I guess maybe they were thinking about catching a movie or working out at the new recreation center right around the corner!

I guess just like the herd of aoudad shown above, I better head out until next time. By the way, if you click on these pictures you can see a much larger version of these pictures.

I look forward to seeing you around the ranch,

Joel

In a short drive around 7-R Ranch one thing that you will definitely notice very quickly is the number of homes that are currently under construction. I took a quick trip around the ranch today and snapped a few pictures of all the construction activity going on and thought I would share those pictures for those of you that have not been out to the ranch in a while. It is a really exciting time at 7-R with the new recreation complex open, Canyon Ridge now open and selling quickly and so much home construction getting started. The word is that there are about 10 more homes about to start very soon. This really is a special community to be in as I believe our residents will testify. These are exciting times at 7-R as all of the construction indicates. There is no better community out there to call home! If you are looking for a place to build a weekend retreat or retirement getaway or you just want to move away from the hustle and bustle of city living you should give us a call to arrange a tour of this world class community. We have some beautiful property available right now and with our utilities in place, all our amenities ready for you to enjoy and so many great people already here building their dream homes there is no community out there with more to offer you and your family.

I’ll see you around the ranch,

Joel

I’d like to say thanks to the 400+ property owners and guests who attended the party we threw at the ALR Center. The resounding comment I heard over and over was “WOW!!!”

I think that we can all agree that Mike Ruff has really outdone himself by delivering something so grand to the community. The recreation complex will be a great asset to our community for years to come. It’s just another example of how special that 7-R Ranch really is. We don’t have to dream about what an amenity might someday look like, we can actually enjoy them today!

“Fun, Food and Friends” was the order of the night and I think that the evening lived up to that billing. Lots of great friends who are really passionate about life at 7-R Ranch attended. We had some great food catered by Texas Best Catering that included fajitas with all the trimmings and a great variety of cold beverages.

When everybody gets together we can’t seem to avoid having fun! I already look forward to the next time we have a party!

Thanks again to everyone who attended and if you missed the party then be sure to get out as soon as you can to see this new recreation center because it will absolutely blow you away.

See you around the ranch.

Joel

Well, everybody at 7-R Ranch is really looking forward to the Grand Opening of the ALR Center on Friday night. We are hosting a property owner event to celebrate and it looks like more than four hundred 7-R property owners and guests are going to be there! One of the greatest things about 7-R Ranch is the passion that the people who own property and homes here exhibit toward the ranch. Everyone really loves this place and what it means in their lives. Every time we host a property owner event we have even greater turnout. These are exciting times at 7-R Ranch!

If you are a property owner and haven’t given us your RSVP then give us a call so we can add you to the list!

If you are a visitor and are just looking around our website then give us a call and we can set an appointment to show you 7-R Ranch this weekend and give you a Grand Opening tour of the new 12,000 square foot recreation center as well as all the new property we just released. Remember we do have $8,000 off every homesite this weekend so be sure to call before all the appointments are filled! You can reach us at 888-392-8674.

Be sure to check back next week for pictures from the party!

Well, the first annual property owner fishing tournament was a lot of fun. More than 30 people were at Lake McIntire at 6:30 am for the start. It was a great day of fishing and I’d like to say thanks to all who participated in the fishing and the lunch that followed.

As part of the tournament we awarded some nice fishing related prizes. Our top prize went to the team consisting of Jerry Ford and Gina Stolly who bagged 5 nice largemouth bass in about an hour and half! They won a nice rod and reel combo as well as a tackle box for their efforts. Scott McKinnon and Craig Singer won second place and John Stolly and Jason Stolly finished third.

Not to be outdone, one of the monster fish in Lake McIntire won a nice prize as well by dragging Jan Hartz’s rod and reel right out of her hands and into the lake! Everybody might need to keep a lookout for the ten pounder swimming Lake McIntire with Jan’s rod and reel!

We had a lot of fun and look forward to the next property owner event. We have a really special community here and always enjoy getting to spend some time with you all at these kind of events. We have a lot more fun in store for the summer so be on the lookout for our next event. We are always looking for a reason to get together. We’ve got the first annual spring fishing tournament behind us and the plans are already underway for the next one. Rumor has it there may be another early morning fishing contest planned for the fall.

We’ll see you around the Ranch,

Joel
